SERVICE │ Durability of the insecticidal efficacy of novel ITNs

A new generation of ITNs have been developed for malaria vector control. It is however important to ascertain their durability under long term field use. CREC/LSHTM has extensive experience in assessing the insecticidal efficacy of novel ITNs and has recently engaged in performing durability bioassays (cone bioassays and tunnel tests) for next-gen nets distributed in other African countries. We appreciate the trust and confidence placed in us. Visit www.crec-lshtm.org to learn more. #pamvercbenin #creclshtm #vectorcontrol

CAPACITY BUILDING | Training of youth in vector control

CREC/LSHTM is committed to building the next-generation of African scientists to enhance capacity towards the control of vector-borne diseases. The Facility hosts, trains, supervises and provides lab space for masters students from local universities in #vectorcontrol research and related disciplines. Below are photos of our current batch of masters students from Université d'Abomey Calavi, Bénin. Learn more about our capacity building at https://lnkd.in/dqxJwfw #worldyouthskillsday

SERVICE │ IRS Blocks:

In evaluating new IRS products, we test for their efficacy and residual effect on various local susbstrates like #cement, #mud and #wood used in local house construction. These substrates are moulded into blocks, treated with the new IRS product and tested in laboratory bioassays over several months. See some photos of our cement and mud block substrates below. SERVICE │ Net Washing for Phase II experimental hut trials.

Net Washing for Phase II experimental hut trials at CREC/LSHTM. WHO guidelines require that candidate LLINs remain efficacious after 20 standardised washes. Washing must be done correctly following suitable protocols and using the right intervals in line with the regeneration time of the net. See below some photos on whole net washing. Find more from Phase II projects page   and videos from our Youtube channel.
